Phil Gold, CC, OQ, MD, PhD, FRS(C)), FRCP(C), MACP

Phil Gold is the Douglas G. Cameron Professor of Medicine, and Professor of Physiology and Oncology, at McGill University. He has served as Chairman of the Department of Medicine at McGill and Physician-in-Chief at the Montreal General Hospital. He is presently the Executive Director of the Clinical Research Centre of the McGill University Health Centre.

Dr. Gold’s early research led to the discovery and definition of the Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA), the blood test most frequently used in the diagnosis and management of patients with cancer. For this work, other studies, and his outstanding contributions as a medical educator, he has gained national and international recognition. He has been elected to numerous prestigious organizations and has been the recipient of such outstanding awards as the Gairdner Foundation Annual International Award, the Isaak Walton Killam Award in Medicine of the Canada Council, and the National Cancer Institute of Canada R.M. Taylor Medal. He has been elected to membership in the Royal Society of Canada, the Association of American Physicians, and Mastership in the American College of Physicians. His outstanding contributions to teaching have been recognized by an award as a Teacher of Distinction from his Factulty of Medicine. He has been honored by his country, his province, his city, and his university by appointment as a Companion of the Order of Canada, an Officer of l’Ordre National du Québec, a member of the Academy of Great Montrealers; and as the recipient of the Gold Medal of the McGill University Graduate Society, respectively. He has been the Sir Arthur Sims Traveling Professor to the British Commonwealth.

Doug Shearer, Anaheim Ducks

Doug joined the Anaheim Ducks in 2007. Prior to that, Doug was the Head Equipment Manager for the Washington Capitals from 1983 to 2006. Doug also served Team USA at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City as well as the 1997 World Hockey Championships in Finland. In 1999, Doug was the head Equipment Manager for the NHL All Star game in Tampa. A past president of the Society of Professional Hockey Equipment Managers, Doug holds a bachelor of science degree in human and physical education.

Gordon Red Batty, Head Equipment Manager Green Bay Packers

Gordon "Red" Batty has been the Head Equipment Manager for the Green Bay Packers for the past fourteen seasons. Prior to joining the Packers, Red worked in the same capacity for thirteen seasons with the Houston Oilers. Long regarded as one of the best in the business, Red was named the National Football League "Equipment Manager of the Year" in 2002. He was a member of the Grey Cup champion Montreal Alouettes in 1974 and 1977 as well as a Super Bowl champion with the Packers in 1996.

Gilbert "Gib" Ford, Former Chairman and CEO of Converse, Inc.

Having been appointed to that position in 1994. Converse is a leading athletic footwear and sports apparel company. He previously held the position of President and CEO since 1986.
After retiring, continued to be active as a sporting goods and athletic footwear industry consultant with his own firm and also as a Managing Partner of Horizon Marketing Group in Norwood, Ma;
a Managing Director of Sergio Tacchini USA; and a member of the Converse Board of Directors.

Mr. Ford has served on the Board of Trustees of the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Ma, and Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, Pa. He was a member of the 1956 U.S. Olympic Basketball Team, which won the Gold Medal at the Olympic Games in Melbourne, Australia. As a result of his active basketball career and business success, he was selected to the 1979 Silver Anniversary All-American Team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Greg Stringfellow, LSU's Head Equipment Manager, Football,
Men's and Women's Golf

Greg Stringfellow enters his fourth season as LSU's equipment manager after being elevated to the position in the spring of 2004. Stringfellow served as the interim equipment manager during LSU’s National Championship season in 2003, stepping in for longtime equipment manager Jeff Boss, who passed away in the fall of 2003 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Stringfellow, one of the many equipment managers who learned the trade under Boss, enters into his 10th season with the Tigers in 2007. He had previously served as a student assistant in the LSU equipment room for five years.

As a member of the LSU equipment staff, Stringfellow is responsible for the ordering and maintaining of equipment and facilities for the LSU football team as well as LSU's 19 other sports. 

Stringfellow lettered two years in football at McGill-Toolen High School in Mobile, Ala., before coming to LSU where he earned a degree in construction management in 1997.

Stringfellow, who is an avid golfer, is a member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association and annually works the Senior Bowl in Mobile.

Chip Robertson, Equipment Manager, Texas Football

Chip Robertson is in his 16th season as the equipment manager for The University of Texas and his 27th year in the field overall.

In his role at UT, Chip Robertson oversees all ordering, issuing and maintenance of the Longhorns’ athletics equipment. He also oversees a student equipment staff that received a national Award of Excellence in spring 1995. Chip Robertson joined the Longhorns staff in 1993 after serving as equipment manager at SMU for 11 years.

Prior to his stint at SMU, Chip Robertson was the assistant equipment manager at Missouri for two years. A native of McComb, Miss., Chip Robertson graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1978 with a degree in accounting. While at Ole Miss, he spent five years as a student equipment manager. Chip
Robertson is a certified member of the Athletics Equipment Managers Association.
